t'Egypt*

No sooner am I back at work after my Xmas week off than I find I am finished again for a two week holiday to Egypt. We booked to go to Sharm el-Sheikh as a fairly last minute attempt to escape the dull, grey, cold northern English winter. Average daytime temperatures in Sharm hover just under 22°C (compared to Yorkshire's own average of 6.5°C ).

We fly on Monday; one potential spanner in the works was the planned airport strike on the same day, but this has apparently been called off. Even if it had gone ahead, it didn't directly affect Manchester airport.

So, the remainder of the weekend will see us packing. I think this time we'll pack half and half. Already this week we have had five necessary vaccinations, and spent more time and money than is usual in Boots the Chemist.

*I had hoped to avoid this Kayism, but my tired brain couldn't think of any other tabloid-style headline. Sorry.

...for massively overestimating our final bill, issuing a threatening debt collection letter (despite me calling them three times to tell them they got it wrong), making us pay the incorrect amount until they 'resolved' the problem, and then allowing another debt collection agency to write to us asking for a random amount. Since then, they have cold-called me a couple of times asking if I was interested in hearing about their current 'special offers'. Er, no thank you.
