I thought I'd better look back to see what I was writing about Olive four years ago, to get an idea what I might tell you about Arthur George.
I see that I'd already written a couple of posts about her. But nowadays I blog less, as I find the things I would say here are being tweeted instead. Much more quick and immediate, and ideal now I've less time to sit down and compose an illustrated blog post.
But I feel it would be remiss of me to not give my reader an update more substantial that 140 characters.
I think you can tell from those 2008 posts that Arthur looks a lot like Olive did when she was his age. Similarly, after an initial loss of 10.5% of his 6lbs 14oz birth weight, Arthur has piled on the pounds. When he was weighed a couple of weeks back, he was 8lbs. Today he tipped the scales at 9lbs 13oz
He's certainly a gannet. On Saturday night he put away 7oz of milk, but still woke up twice during the night for more feeds. He's generally having two night feeds after his 11pm bedtime milk. Gemma is feeding him much better than she managed with number one. He is quite a grizzler, making various noises that may or may not indicate wind, an imminent poo, or that he's tired. Baths are not on regular days, and he seems to dislike them.
Olive adores him, as do all of our family and friends. We've managed visitors better this time round, limiting them to one set at a time. We've been to Halesowen to stay at my folks' house, where a steady stream of well-wishers passed before us. I've not yet managed to call into my old work, mainly because new rules mean I'm not allowed into the building I worked at for eight years.
So all-in-all, things are going as well as can be expected.
