You say 'Soda Pop', I say 'Carbonated Water'
What term do you use for 'soft drink'. Here's a map showing what it's called in the US:I allign myself with the Northwest, Great Plains and Midwest areas in calling it pop.

I know I only mentioned the Fail Blog a couple of weeks ago, but there are a couple of plum examples today that I need to share with you.
I just wish they would trust the audience's intelligence to know why the pictures are funny; ditch the hand-drawn arrows I say.
Over the next few days (and probably weeks), I am going to reorganise and reappraise the links that are currently dripping down the right-hand side of this very page (unless you are reading this on Bloglines).
I am going to list all links in separate category-specific posts, and link to these from the sidebar. I think this will make for a neater and more concise set of links.
I am really enjoying the Fail Blog at the moment. It is a repository for unsuccess, and is incredibly funny.
I'm really enjoying the regular posts on the Photoshop Disasters blog. They are both jaw-droppingly tragic and very funny. Yesterdays post made me laugh the most:
I often make reference to 'my reader', as if to suggest I have just the one. Yet my stat counter tells me you are in double figures. This is a fine example of my highly-tuned comedy skills.
Anyway, I also know that some of you 'double figures' also enjoy Warming Up, the blog of Richard Herring. He mentioned in a recent post that he has a regular column on the New Statesman website, and that it has recently been brought to his attention that there is a feature whereby his words are read by a kind of robot-voiced woman. This gives rise to an unexpected amusement, and I urge you to check out the latest column; for your convenience, I include the link here.
Phew, that was quite an intense period of blogging during September. I do make things hard for myself, don't I boys and girls? Hopefully, there will further guest blogs coming soon. I should have taken a leaf out of Sarah's book, and written a more succinct account of the holiday. But when I look back on all my holiday reports, I notice that I've never really been able to keep it short.
Anyway, I reckoned it was about time for a little make-over - nothing to drastic, just enough to freshen the place up a bit. Hope you like it (let me know if you do or don't). I also thought that I'd drop the 'no capital letters' policy that has been in place since I commenced to pouring by brain onto my keyboard. It was actually starting to annoy me.
richard herring has written a very amusing and extensive post on a subject that is one of my bugbears.
i added a feature to my blog that allows you to preview a site, simply by hovering over the link. try it.

richard herring continues to amuse me with his daily blog; wednesday's entry in particular indicates why he has not been allowed to appear live on the telly in recent years.
