gemma, neeley and i went to oxford at the weekend. we always have a lovely time when we go; we stop at gemma's aunt's house. and on saturday, we went to london by coach. i didn't fancy seeing fame, so i headed to the national maritime museum to see a photography exhibition about the coast. to be honest, it was a bit small and not quite worth the trip, had it not been in greenwich. i had forgotten how lovely this part of london is. it features the royal observatory and the cutty sark. but i have seen these things before, so i dipped into the wonderful market for a browse.
on the way out of the exhibition, i walked down to the thames to check out the view back towards the city. i noticed some filming taking place at the university, and tip-toed and craned to get a better look. the set seemed to be depicting the outside of buckingham palace, and there were crowds and policemen, and a short section of palace-style fencing laden with flowers. it kind of reminded me of how it looked when the princess of diana died. a look-a-like queen and duke of edinburgh completed the scene. i couldn't really see what was happening, so i carried on towards the river, but i spotted a grip and asked her what she was working on. she told me i had been watching the final weeks filming by granada, of a drama starring helen mirren (as you can clearly see from the bottom-left of my picture).
back in town, i met up with the others, and went to the south bank for food. we popped into the tate, and we looked at rachel whiteread's latest moulds.
